Kevin J. York is the Associate Director of Bands at Idaho State University. He received his Masters degree in Conducting from Texas Tech University, where he taught as a graduate assistant and conducting intern; and received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Grand Valley State University in Michigan. At Idaho State University, he directs the Bengal Marching Band, basketball pep bands, concert band and jazz band II. He also teaches courses in music education and music technology.
Prior to joining the music faculty at ISU, he served as Assistant Director of Bands at Grand Valley State University and Mississippi State University. At GVSU he was responsible for organizing and directing all athletic bands, and taught various courses in the Department of Music with an emphasis in marching band techniques and music technology. Mr. York also taught middle school and high school band in the public schools of Michigan where his bands received superior ratings at numerous marching and concert festivals throughout the state. He is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, College Music Society, and National Band Association. He also holds honorary memberships from Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity and Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorority.
Carrie Larsen
Color Guard Instructor
Carrie Larsen was on Highland Senior High School’s colorguard for three years, serving as co-captain her first two years and captain during her senior year. Carrie then went on to teach Highland’s colorguard for the last six years. During that time, the colorguard has been very competitively successful in recent seasons, winning many caption trophies for outstanding colorguard. Carrie was also a member of the world class Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps from Casper, Wyoming in 2008, and received the outstanding rookie award for that season.
Shane Lindsey
Drumline Instructor
Shane Lindsay has been the drumline instructor of the Bengal Marching Band for the past 12 years. In addition to his duties with the marching band, Mr. Lindsey also acts as a consultant for the Bengal Basketball Pep Band and a drum tech for PVD winter drumline. He received his Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Idaho State University.
Dr. Thom Hasenpflug
Administrative Director of Marching Percussion
Dr. Hasenpflug works as a consultant and coordinator for the Bengal Marching Band drumline. He received his degrees in percussion and composition from Ithaca College and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Colorado, and is a full time faculty member of the department of music. www.isu.edu/departments/music/hasenpflug
