Over $100,000 in scholarship money is available each year to students enrolled in ISU performing groups. The majority of the scholarships (over $70,000) are allocated for marching band and these scholarships are renewed each year. We invite and encourage anyone interested in joining the marching band to apply for a scholarship.
Scholarship auditions for marching band can be scheduled by calling the band office at
(208) 282-2748. The audition will consist of scales and performing a prepared piece.
*Students receiving scholarships must be a full time student with a GPA of 2.0.
I haven't played my instrument in a while, should I still audition for a scholarship?
YES! All students in the ISU Marching Band can receive scholarships. Those students who improve after their first audition can even receive scholarship increases! Since the scholarships are available each year that you are enrolled in the marching band, it is in your best interest to get that first scholarship and then increase that amount in subsequent years. By earning a scholarship your first year, you insure yourself a scholarship for your entire tenure in the ISU Marching Band.
I was in band in high school, but we didn't march; can I still receive a scholarship?
YES! Don't worry about the marching, we'll teach you everything you need to know. It's not going to be difficult, it's going to be fun!
Do color guard members receive scholarships too?
Yes! All wind, percussion and auxillary units can receive scholarships.
