Interlibrary Loan Help

Eligibility

Interlibrary loan is available to Idaho State University faculty, staff and currently enrolled students both local and distant.

Services for Those Who Attend Classes or Work on the Pocatello Campus of ISU

Interlibrary Loan will obtain materials that the library does not own.

  • Books

The requestor will be notified by email to your @isu.edu email account to pick them up at the Library Circulation Desk, 1st floor.

The Circulation Desk is open all the hours the Library is open.

    Library Circulation Desk Phone: 208-282-3248

If for some reason the pick-up cannot be done in a reasonable time frame, please notify the Interlibrary Loan Office by phone
    (208-282-3127) or email warrmary@isu.edu

Returns are also made to the Library Circulation Desk.

  • Articles

Articles are posted to the Web as a PDF file.

An email will be sent to your @isu.edu email account with a case-sensitive PIN number to access the article.

Access to each document is available for 14 days or for 5 views, whichever happens first.

After the view period the document is automatically deleted from the Library's server and you will no longer be able to access it through this Web delivery process.

If you have problems, contact the Library immediately using the Report a Problem with ILL/Document Delivery Requests form.

If you do not view, save, or print the document during the 14-day window, you will have to request the article again for a $2.00 charge.

Interlibrary Loan for Distance Users

Services for Non-ISU Individuals

  • Health Care Professionals should contact the Idaho Health Sciences Library (208) 282-4686 who will provide services for a fee.
($20.00 + applicable copyright fee + $3.00 copyright processing fee + $10.00 rush fee if same day service is required)
  • All other persons, including Community Borrowers, should contact their local public library.
In Pocatello, we suggest that non-university library users contact the Marshall Public Library to request and obtain materials that are not owned by the Oboler Library. Residents of Chubbuck and local county residents should contact Portneuf District Library to request materials that are not owned by the Oboler Library.
  • Other libraries may request from us in the usual manner. We do not accept emailed requests. OCLC, DOCLINE or fax/mailed ALA requests only.

Loans

If materials have a due date, it was assigned by the lending library. If materials need to be returned, the borrower is responsible for it until it is returned and checked in by the Oboler Library.

Not all items can be renewed. Due date and renewal policies are set by the lending library. If an item can be renewed, you must request a renewal before the item is overdue or you will be billed an overdue charge.

Renewals

Renewals may be possible depending on the policies of the lending library. Please check with the ISU Interlibrary Loan office by phone (208) 282-3127 or email warrmary@isu.edu before the material is due.

Overdue Fees

A courtesy notice is sent via email to your @isu.edu email account 3 days before an item is due as a reminder to return the item.

Fines for the late return of interlibrary loan materials accrue at $1.00 per day per item. There is a maximum fine of $25.00 per item.

If interlibrary loan materials are not returned within two weeks, a replacement fee of $100.00 per item will be billed to ISU patrons plus a $15.00 processing fee.

Rush Processing - Articles

A $10.00 per item fee is charged if requested item is received within 3 working days.

At the moment, rush orders don't work well on the electronic forms.

If you are in Pocatello, ask for one of the old paper forms. (Forms are located at the 1st floor Circulation Desk or the Main Reference Desk. Please turn in at 1st floor desk.)

At other locations, call (208) 282-3127 and ask for advice.

Rush Processing - Books

Rush books can only be supplied to some locations. Call (208) 282-3127 if you have questions.

A $25.00 per book fee is charged which includes FedEx, delivery & rush fee.

Contact ILL Office for special arrangements. (208) 282-3127
