Interlibrary Loan for Distance Users

Satellite Dish representing distance service

Interlibrary loan provides ISU students, faculty and staff the opportunity to have the Library request materials not available from the Oboler Library's collections.

In the past the Oboler Library focused its distance library services toward the University centers in Boise, Coeur d'Alene, Hailey, Idaho Falls, Lewiston and Twin Falls. Since an increasing number of courses are moving to online with students located everywhere, library delivery must be focused directly to a student, not a center.

Distance Definition

Distance Library services are intended for currently enrolled distance Idaho State University students, faculty and staff who do not attend classes or work on the Pocatello campus of ISU. These cities are considered local: Aberdeen, American Falls, Blackfoot, Chubbuck, Fort Hall, Inkom, Lava Hot Springs, McCammon, Moreland, Pingree, Pocatello, Rockford, Springfield and Sterling.

Books for Distance Users

Articles for Distance Users

The same form is used for both local and distance users for obtaining Oboler Library articles or those obtained from other libraries. Use the Interlibrary Loan Request Form and follow the instructions. Log in and choose Copy of an Article or Copy of a Book Chapter form using the drop-down menu.

The article is posted to the Web as a PDF file. An email will be sent to your @isu.edu email account with a case-sensitive PIN number to access the article. Access to each document is available for 14 days or 5 views, whichever happens first. After that the document is automatically deleted from the Library's server and you will no longer be able to access it through this Web delivery process.

If you have problems, contact the Library immediately using the Report a Problem with ILL/Document Delivery Requests form.

If you do not view, save or print the document during the 14-day window, you will have to request the article again for a $2.00 charge.
