Interlibrary Loan supports the instructional, research, and scholarly activities of current Idaho State University faculty, staff, and students by obtaining material not owned by the Eli M. Oboler Library. It also supplies materials to other libraries.

Items You Borrow and Return

Materials such as books, theses, dissertations, musical scores, government documents, videos, or CD/DVDs that must be returned to the lending library.

Delivery: You will receive email notification to your @isu.edu email address when your item(s) is/are available.

  2. Borrow a Dissertation

This is called the Dissertation Service. The Library will attempt to secure a loan of the dissertation. If we are unable to obtain a loan, the requestor has the option of purchasing the dissertation on a direct recovery basis; current charge is $30 per item for PDF/Electronic copy or $33 per item for softbound, paper copy. Dissertation Express sets prices, which are subject to change. The requestor can then keep the dissertation in his/her personal collection. ILL can also order material directly without attempting a loan first. If you want to purchase the dissertation, submit the Purchase a Thesis/Dissertation form.

Distance Users

See Interlibrary Loan (ILL) for Distance Users

Note: There may be public or academic libraries in your local area that have materials that could be of value to you in your educational endeavors. We encourage you to check their holdings and use what is available there first.

Delivery: Articles are posted to the Web as a PDF file. An email will be sent to your @isu.edu email account with a case-sensitive PIN number to access the article. Access to each document is available for 14 days or for 5 views, whichever occurs first. After that, the document is automatically deleted from the Library's server and you will no longer be able to access it through Web delivery process.

If you have problems, contact the Library immediately using the Report a Problem with ILL/Document Delivery Requests form.

If you do not view, save, or print the document during the 14-day window, you will need to request the article again for a $2.00 charge.
