Encyclopedias Berkshire Encyclopedia of World Sport (Reference Collection: GV 567. B 48 2005): This four-volume encyclopedia contains substantial articles on topics in world sport, including dance, the martial arts, body image, kinesiology, training, coaching, and more, as well as articles on world sports and games. Indexed. Encyclopedia of Physical Education, Fitness, and Sports (Reference Collection: GV 567. E 49): This encyclopedia is composed of four volumes, each of which contain lengthy articles on topics in sports education and fitness. Volume one contains articles on philosophies, programs, and history. Volume two covers training, environment, nutrition, and fitness. Volume three covers sports and related activities. Volume four covers human performance. Indexed. Encyclopedia of Sports Science (Reference Collection: GV 558. E 53 1997): This two-volume encyclopedia is a valuable reference tool for researching the science--the physics, the medicine, and so on--involved with the world of sports. Indexed. Handbooks and Blue Books Blue Book of College Athletics for Senior, Junior & Community Colleges (Reference Collection: GV 741. B 53 2005-6): This Blue Book functions as a directory for the athletics programs for hundreds of American universities and colleges. Each entry lists contact information. Indexed. The Sports Rules Book (Reference Collection: GV 731. H 85 2004): This reference book lists the rules and practices for 47 different sports and games. Sports include baseball, wrestling, gymnastics, handball and racquetball, and more. Thesauri and Bibliographies Bibliography on Psychological Tests Used in Research and Practices in Sport and Exercise Psychology (Reference Collection: GV 706.4 L 48 2002): This bibliography contains citations to articles on a broad range of topics in sports psychology, such as anxiety, aggression, eating disorders, self-esteem, and so on. This bibliography does focus on the tests used to measure these traits, etc. Indexed. SIRCThesaurus (Reference Collection: GV 567. S 52 2002): This thesaurus lists the terms used in the SPORTDiscus database and can be used to help improve searching in that database. Findlaw: Sports Law: Legal resources on the internet related to athletics and sports, includes links to news stories, associations and government documents. Scholarly Sports Sites: A Subject Directory: Developed and maintained by the library at the University of Calgary, this site serves as a bibliography, with links to sports associations, codes of ethics, conference schedules, and so on. Women's Sports Foundation: This Web site focuses on sports issues that affect women such as equality and legal issues, coaching, competition, and more.
