Technique and Writing

American Rhetoric The Online Speech Bank on this website provides 5000+ full-text, audio and video versions of public speeches, including sermons, legal proceedings, lectures, interviews and debates. The Top 100 Speeches section has full-text, audio and video of the most significant American speeches of the 20th century, and is updated annually. The Movie Speeches section has 200+ movie clips known for their speeches. Rhetorical Figures in Sound provides 200+ short audio and video clips which illustrate stylistic speech practices, such as alliteration and synecdoche. The website is maintained by Michael Eidenmuller of University of Texas at Tyler.

Preparing Speeches: Created by University of Hawai'i Maui Community College Speech Department, this guide to writing speeches contains information and help for the process of writing speeches, from picking a topic to doing research up through writing the speech. Links on this page can take you tips on practicing and delivering your speeches.
