Books
The following are selected resources for research in psychology. For more books on these topics or books on specific branches of psychology, psychologists and researchers, etc. please search the Library Catalog.
More books on the clinical, pharmacological, and medical aspects of psychiatry can be found in the Health Sciences Reference Collection on the third floor of the library and are included in the Library Catalog.

Dictionaries
The International Dictionary of Psychology (Reference Collection: BF 31. S 83 1996): This dictionary consists of brief definitions of terms used in clinical psychology, psychiatry, neurology, and other allied sciences. This work does not have a table of contents or an index.
Encyclopedias
Encyclopedia of Psychology (Reference Collection: BF 31. E 52 2000): This eight volume encyclopedia is comprised of lengthy articles on concepts, theories, topics of interest, professional organizations, researchers and theorists, and more. A cumulative index can be found in volume eight.
Handbooks and Statistics
The Handbook of Psychology (Reference Collection: BF 121. H 1955 2003): This twelve volume set is arranged so that each volume covers a different division of psychology. The divisions covered by this set include: the history of psychology, research methods, biology, experimental psychology, personality and social psychology, developmental psychology, educational psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology, assessment, forensic psychology, and industrial and organizational psychology. Each volume contains a table of contents and an index. The articles in each volume describe and explain the different theories and topics of interest.
Library Use: A Handbook for Psychology (Reference Collection: BF 76.8 R 43 1992): This handbook functions as a research guide for psychology students and researchers. It contains valuable information on locating and using library materials for research in psychology. This work contains a table of contents and an index.
Statistics Sources (Reference Desk: Z 7551. S 84): Organized topically, this guide to statistics resources points out thousands of different places to find statistical information.
Test and Assessment Guides
Comprehensive Handbook of Psychological Assessment (Reference Collection: BF 176. C 654 2004): Each of the four volumes of this handbook covers a different aspect of psychological assessment. Volume one covers intelligence and neurophysiology. Volume two covers personality. Volume three covers behavior, and volume four covers industrial and organizational psychology. Each volume summarizes the major theories in its particular division of psychology, important issues and controversies (if any), and relevant tests. Each volume contains its own table of contents and index.
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Health Sciences Reference Collection: RC 455.2 C4 D536 2000): This book, also called the DSM-IV-TR, is designed to assist psychology professionals in diagnosing and assessing mental disorders. This book includes a table of contents and an index.
The Seventeenth Mental Measurements Yearbook (Reference Collection: BF 176. B 93 2007): This latest edition of the Mental Measurements Yearbook contains descriptions of tests used by psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors and educators. Both a table of contents and an index are available in this title.
Thesauri
Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms (Reference Collection: BF 1. P 6512): The terms listed in this thesaurus are ones used by indexers and librarians to describe the subjects of books and articles as they are entered in a database or the library catalog. Using the same terms as librarians and indexers can help you quickly find the most relevant material for your research. This book includes guides for use and a table of contents.

INFOMINE: INFOMINE is a special database that searches for Web site and documents that most search engines miss, primarily Web pages and documents on university Web sites. This database is developed and maintained by the Library of the University of California, Riverside.
Psych Central: This Web site functions as an online directory of articles, books, and Web sites on psychology and related topics. This site is maintained by psychology professionals.
Psychology Resources: AmoebaWeb: Created and maintained by a professor of psychology at Vanguard University, this Web site contains links to hundreds of online articles and Web pages about a wide variety of topics in psychology. Articles are arranged by topic or by branch of psychology.
Social Psychology Network: This Web site is a database of thousands of online resources on topics in psychology, sociology, and social psychology.
Yale University Library--Psychology--Selected Internet Resources: This list of Web sites includes links to search engines, directories, encyclopedias, tutorials, and more.
