The following are selected resources for research in physics. For more books on this topic, please use the library catalog: Library Catalog.
To find books in other libraries, try using WorldCat, a
collective catalog for thousands of libraries in the United States, Canada, and around the world. This catalog should not be used as a substitute
for this library's catalog, but as another avenue of searching for books.
Dictionaries Dictionary of Physics (Reference Collection: QC 5. D 53 2004): This four volume dictionary is comprised of short definitions of hundreds of terms, concepts, experiments, people, and phenomena in a wide range of physics topics. Dictionary of Physics (Reference Collection: QC 5. C 43 1999): This shorter dictionary has quick definitions of basic terms, concepts, and phenomena in physics. Encyclopedias McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Physics (Reference Collection: QC 5. M 425 1993): This encyclopedia contains lengthy articles on topics in physics, including phenomena, theories, concepts, terms, chemistry, and so on. Indexed. Handbooks, Reference Data, and Tables AIP Physics Desk Reference (Reference Collection: QC 61. P 49 2003): Based on an idea by Enrico Fermi, this desk reference is designed to be a handy reference volume for physicists and physics students, containing commonly used formulas, numbers, definitions, concepts, facts, etc. Indexed. The Cambridge Handbook of Physics Formulas (Reference Collection: QC 661. W 67 2000): This handbook consists of formulae for mathematics, mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, astrophysics, quantum physics, and more. Indexed. Handbook of Physics (Reference Collection: QC 61.H 37 2002): Similar to the AIP Physics Desk Reference, this handbook contains formulas, explanations, diagrams and charts, and so on. Indexed. Reference Data on Atoms, Molecules, and Ions (Reference Collection: QC 173. R 2613 1985): This book contains the structural and properties data of atomic particles and molecular particles. Indexed. |

American Institute of Physics: The American Institute of Physics' Web site offers information on
physics research, publications, societies, job opportunities, and more.
High Energy Physics Search: Maintained by the Stanford Linear
Accelerator Center and the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, this online database indexes approximately 500,000 articles, including
pre-prints and conference proceedings, on topics in high energy physics and related topics.
INFOMINE: INFOMINE is a special database that searches for Web site and documents that most
search engines miss, primarily Web pages and documents on university Web sites. This database is developed and maintained by the
Library of the University of California, Riverside.
Librarians' Internet Index: Collected and annotated by librarians, this site contains a searchable database
of high quality Web sites. To find a Web site, browse the available topics or use the search box.
Physics Laboratory--Physical Reference Data: Published by the
National Institute of Standards and Technologies, this site contains information on physical constants, the elements, spectroscopy, radiation,
and more.
Physics Resources: Collected by the science and engineering libraries
at Duke University, these online physics resources include physics databases, societies and professional organizations, and physics reference
help. NOTE: Some of the linked databases are for Duke University affiliates only.
Schwob Memorial Library Physics Resources: The Schwob Library
at Columbus State University has put together this collection of college-level physics Web sites. A number of them include practice problems
and demonstrations.
Scitopia: Search over 3 million documents, plus patents and government data. Includes bibliographic records for fifteen societies spanning 150 years of sci-tech scholarship.
