Library and Book Trade Almanac (Reference Collection Z731 .A475): This annual publication includes facts, statistics, and reports of interest to librarians. Formerly titled Bowker Annual of Library and Book Trade Information.
Periodical Title Abbreviations: By Abbreviation (Reference Desk: Z 6945. A 2 W 34 2000): This book gives the full titles of thousands of journals from around the world. Titles are listed by abbreviation.
World Encyclopedia of Library and Information Services (Reference Collection Z1006 .W67 1993): This encyclopedia contains entries on "important individuals, institutions, organizations, technological developments, concepts, procedures, and libraries around the world." A lengthy preview is available on Google Books.
Web Sites
ACQWeb: [Tools for Librarians metasite] This site is designed for acquisitions and collection development librarians. Links to Internet tools are grouped in the following categories - Associations & Organizations, Connect & communicate; LIS Resources; Literary Resources/ Publisher Information; Tools for Selectors; and Verification Tools.
Animated Tutorial Sharing Project (ANTS): This is COPPUL's collaborative project presently involving librarians in Canada and the United States, but open to librarians elsewhere. The goal of the project is to create a shared repository of library, research, and information literacy tutorials created using screencast software such as Adobe Captivate, Qarbon Viewlet Builder, Techsmith's Camtasia Studio, or similar products. Tutorials contributed to the ANTS project are made publicly available for use by all libraries via our affiliated sites: LION TV and Screencast.com. Editable Source code is also available from the DSpace repository for those who wish to add their own brands, local links, etc."
Copyright & Fair Use: Stanford University Library's page has an extensive copyright and fair use overview, the "Fairly Used Blog," the copyright law, and over 25 valuable "Charts & Tools" (e.g. Stanford's Copyright Renewal Database; Digital Copyright Slider; Copyright for Librarians, a free online tutorial)
Current Cites - "A team of librarians monitors information technology literature, selecting only the best items to annotate for this free publication. The resulting issue of 8-12 annotated citations of current literature is emailed to a mailing list and is available as an RSS feed." Directory of Open Access Journals - Library and Information Science: There are over 100 library & information science journals freely available through this site. Some of the titles are also available and searchable through the Open-J Gate database.
Internet Library for Librarians: The resources on this metasite are organized into three categories - Ready Reference, Librarianship, and Accessories. Each major category is divided into subject groups. A site search feature is also available.

LINK: Library Instruction Knapsack: LINK is "a repository of learning objects to support academic librarians in their instructional role." This site has links to other "object repositories for librarians," ANTS, CORIL, LILAC and PRIMO.
LISNews Librarian and Information Science News: "LISNews is a collaborative weblog [aka blog] devoted to current events and news in the world of Library and Information Science. A dedicated team of international bloggers scour the World Wide Web to find stories they find interesting. You'll find links to news stories and Web sites, along with original writing, interviews and reviews. LISNews is updated frequently, usually 7 days a week. We are a non-commercial site, supported by our users." Note that the search box is at the bottom of the screen.
LISZEN Library and Information Science Search Engine -- Search over 750 library blogs using this simple keyword search engine.
Map Librarians' Toolbox AND Map Cataloger's Tool Box: These two web sites provide links to useful resources for librarians who work with maps.
National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) - Library Statistics Program: The NCES web page provides data and reports about academic, public and school libraries. The site offers features such as the "Compare Academic Libraries" tool and selected library-related websites.
ODLIS: Online Dictionary of Library and Information Science: This site contains short definitions for library and information science terms related to preservation, information searching and retrieval, classification and cataloging, and more.
Professional Resources for Librarians: The Medical Library Association's Collection Development Section created this selected group of resources.
SACO, Subject Authority Cooperative Program: Internet resources useful in creating SACO proposals are categorized into nine areas -- arts, humanities & social sciences; geography & geographic names; natural sciences; dictionaries & thesauri health sciences & medicine; physical sciences & mathematics; area studies; technology, home economics, military & naval science & history; and encyclopedias. This is a valuable gateway for researchers and catalogers.
