Biographical Dictionary of Artists (Reference Collection: N 40 .B 53 1995): This dictionary contains biographies of artists from around the world. Includes some color reproductions. Indexed.

Dictionary of Art (Reference Collection: N 31 .D 5 1996): This multi-volume dictionary contains in-depth articles on artists, architects, schools of art and art movements, techniques and more. Indexed in the last volume.

Encyclopedia of Architecture (Reference Collection: NA 31 .E 59 1988): This encyclopedia contains articles on architects, construction, materials, and relevant engineering. Indexed.

Symbols and Legends in Western Art (Reference Collection: N 7740 .W 53): This dictionary includes definitions and explanations of thousands of religious and mythological symbols that have been used in Western art. Not indexed.

American Art Directory (Reference Collection: N 50 .A 54): This directory contains contact information for art organizations, museums and schools in the United States. Indexed.

Artist's & Graphic Designer's Market (Reference Collection: N 8600 .A 746): This directory lists the contact information and interests of companies and other groups that publish graphic and other visual art.

History of Art (Reference Collection: N 5300 .J 3 2007): This art history text covers art from prehistory to the 20th century in in-depth articles, with some color reproductions. Indexed.

Art and Architecture Thesaurus Online Produced by the Getty Museum. A structured vocabulary of around 34,000 concepts, including 131,000 terms, descriptions, bibliographic citations, and other information relating to fine art, architecture, decorative arts, archival materials, and material culture.

Art History Resources on the Web Comprehensive list by an Art History professor at Sweet Briar College, Virginia, of links to art and art history resources.

Artcyclopedia: This Web site functions as a basic art and architecture encyclopedia. It contains brief biographies of artists, definitions of movements, and searches dozens of art museums around the world to locate works of art. Use the glossary to find definitions of techniques, tools, and materials.

Artlex: This online art and architecture dictionary provides short definitions for materials, styles, techniques, and terms. This glossary covers a wide variety of visual arts including sculpture, architecture, painting and drawing, book art, and more.

Mother of all Art and Art History Links Page: Created and maintained by the School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan, this Web page links to sites on modern and experimental art, museum and art programs at numerous universities, and art history.

Timeline of Art History Produced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Searchable by artist, time period, geographic area, school of art. Includes essays and bibliographic references.

Voice of the Shuttle From the University of California-Santa Barbara. Created to assist in academic research in the humanities. See especially the Art History, Art (Modern and Contemporary), Architecture pages. Includes essays and bibliographic references.

WebMuseum: Maintained by Nicholas Pioch, this Web site is an archive of in-depth articles on artists, their works, and different art movements. Site is not searchable.

Words of Art: Developed by Robert Belton at the University of British Columbia, this art dictionary provides short definitions of critical and analytical art terms.
