The Library's primary clientele consists of the students, staff, and faculty at Idaho State University. However, the library provides various services and resources to individuals not affiliated with Idaho State University on a fee per service basis. These services are also available to businesses, organizations, and other non-university entities, such as health care professionals. The available services are mainly for reference or document delivery assistance.
Special Collection Services and Prices
Contact Special Collections directly for information related to area or Idaho history, as well as old and rare materials, manuscripts, or the University Archives. Research conducted by the Special Collections area are billed at the following rates:
- Research fee: $24.00 for the first hour, $20.00/hour thereafter plus any other incurred charges
- Black & white copy fee: $.20 per copy per side, black & white, 8 ½ x 11
- Color copy fee: $.70 per copy single sided only, 8 ½ x 11

Obituary Searches
These searches are usually done in microfilm copies of old newspapers and will result in a copy of the obituary. The information needed includes the person's name, date and place of death. If there is missing information, the search will be extended; searches over 15 minutes will be billed using fees listed under, Research Services or Database Searching. Fee: $10.00 per name, if found within 15 minutes. Additional minutes after first 15 minutes will be billed at $20.00/hour
Research Services or Database Searching
Qualified Library staff members are available to conduct literature searches in various subject areas. Staff will perform customized research using both print and electronic reference tools. Contact Special Collections
$50.00 for first hour, $20.00 for each additional hour plus any other incurred charges. This is for all non-Special Collections research, and will be handled by the appropriate subject librarian.
