The Periodical Collection, 3rd floor, contains a major collection of print and microform titles that are arranged alphabetically by Library of Congress (LC) call numbers.
In June 2006, there were 2,853 current periodical subscriptions in print format in the general and Health Science collections. The total periodical collection consists of around 145,000 bound volumes in three locations. As of April 2006, the following statistics held true:
- 3rd Floor -- The 3rd floor periodical collection had 7,041 full shelves or 21,124 linear feet
- 2nd Floor -- The 2nd floor periodical collection (inter-shelved with book collection) had 60 full shelves or 180 linear feet
- Storage -- This periodical collection had 1,435 full shelves or 4,308 linear feet
Together the print periodical collection had 8,637 full shelves or 25,611 linear feet - almost 5 miles of full shelving.

Accessible to ISU users through several access points
- A-Z Journal List
This lists most of the journals available through the ISU Library, including those from full-text databases. Searching can be done alphabetically by title in an A-Z list, or by specific title, subject, or index. The search tab allows advanced searching within title name, publisher name, ISSN, or all of the above. Access to individual journals and full-text articles may be restricted to ISU students, faculty or staff only. - Access Through Electronic Databases

How to Search for Periodicals
- A-Z Journal List
Shows if you should "Check ELI (Library Catalog) for print coverage." Indicates which databases may provide you electronic coverage and available dates. Lists most of the journals available through the ISU Library, including those from full-text databases. Searching can be done by title in an A-Z list, specific title, subject, or index. A search tab allows advanced searching within title name, publisher name, ISSN, or all of the above. Access to individual journals and full-text articles may be restricted to ISU students, faculty or staff only. - Library Catalog
To search a journal title, enter the title in the Search For box and choose the Search By Journal Title category. (Click on Search Tips for Title or Journal Title searching help, if needed.) - Databases
Locate articles using the Library's electronic databases. Search by topic with qualifiers such as journal title, peer-reviewed, date, etc. Many full-text articles are now available. By clicking on the Databases link, the databases are listed alphabetically by name. They can also be searched by subject category. - LiLI-D Journal Title Search

This is a database that allows you to search the combined catalogs of hundreds of libraries around the world. It contains millions of records of journals, books, audiovisual materials and more. It can help find items, verify citations, and locate materials available in other libraries.
