When their son is diagnosed with autism, one Texas couple seeks the best medical treatment. Book Discussion with Dr. Susan Goslee | September 15

12pm, Heritage Room of the Student Union
Dr. Susan Goslee, Assistant Professor in English, will lead a noon-time discussion revolving around the 2010 Reading Project selection, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Dr. Goslee and special guests will facilitate questions and answers with the audience so come and share your thoughts and opinions on the book with faculty and students alike!

Panel: Living and Learning with Autism | October 19

6pm, Salmon River Room of the Student Union
The first of two Reading Panels during the academic year, Dr. Deborah Hedeen, dean of the College of Education, will moderate a panel of parents and teachers who will describe best practice strategies used in home and school environments for individuals with autism. This panel will be equipped with Distance Broadcast capabilities to several satellite campuses across Idaho.

Essay Contest | Due December 1

The Reading Project invites all full-time students enrolled during the Fall 2010 academic semester to submit an essay response to one of the questions posed by the committee for a chance to win one of three $100 ASISU scholarships.

Based on Grandin's own writings, this HBO film chronicles the life of one of America's most remarkable personalities. Starring Claire Danes as Grandin, the film takes viewers through her life story from autistic child to brilliant inventor and scientist. View Trailer

Panel: Autism: An Applied Clinical Science Perspective | February 15

6pm, Salmon River Room in the Student Union
Clinical Psychologist Mark Roberts, will moderate several brief presentations on the diagnosis, assessment, etiology, and treatment of autism spectrum disorders presented by members of the ISU Interdisciplinary Evaluation Team. This panel will be equipped with Distance Broadcast capabilities to several satellite campuses across Idaho.

Keynote Speaker Temple Grandin | March 9

Temple Grandin, named one of Time Magazine's Most Influential People in the World in 2010, will be visiting the campus of Idaho State University and sharing her unique life story and fascinating research with the campus and community. Join us for a series of events revolving around her life and work and don't miss the keynote address and book signing at The Jensen Grand Hall in the Performing Arts Center starting at 7pm.
