What is the ISU Leadership Academy?
The ISU Leadership Academy is a prestigious semester-long program focused on offering leadership attribute training in a workshop-style learning environment. Program participants gain insight into their own leadership ability through fun, hands-on learning and interaction with leaders from campus and the community.
Who can be a participant?
ISU Leadership Academy involvement requires current ISU enrollment (sophomore or junior status preferred), a GPA at or above 2.0, and a strong interest in personal leadership development. Involvement in a past or present leadership role is encouraged, as well as a commitment to attend all nine Academy events. ISU Leadership Academy requires that applicants be nominated by an ISU Faculty, staff or student.
What kind of time commitment is involved?
Academy members are asked to attend seven workshops throughout the spring semester. Each workshop session will be held in the evening and last approximately three hours. The format will consist of a guest speaker, an interactive learning session, and a small group discussion. ISU Leadership Academy participants will also have the opportunity to impact campus and the community with a service project. Session topics include: Vision and Goals, Conflict Management, Decision Making, and Leadership Styles. The Academy concludes with a closing banquet.
How do I apply ?
Applications and nomination forms may be accessed on-line or picked up at the ASISU office in the Pond Student Union. Both forms must be submitted by Friday, December 7, 2007 in the ASISU office. Applicants chosen to participate in the Academy will be notified no later than December 14, 2007. Up to 20 students may be selected.
