Kasiska College of Health Professions Research Day

Kasiska College of Health Professions Research Day

As part of its primary mission to enhance the quality of life of the residents of Idaho and the greater community outside of Idaho, KCHP hosts an annual Research Day event to promote and disseminate ongoing research on Health Care in Idaho. Research Day also provides a local venue for KCHP faculty, staff, and students to (a) showcase the research they are presenting at other regional, national, and international meetings, and (b) encourage across-discipline collaboration.

Research Day includes (but is not limited to) research into the five dimensions of the health professions that are the focus of the college: 1) physical health, 2) mental health, 3) oral health, 4) rehabilitation and 5) wellness. Attendees can expect to encounter all types of research including basic research, translational research, and educational research. Presenters include ISU faculty, administrators, and students, as well as their community collaborators. Presentations are made from both the Pocatello main campus and ISU-Meridian with many sessions broadcast to both sites simultaneously using ISU's distance learning facilities.

The 2010 Research Day will be held April 9, 2010 and this year's theme is:

Communities and KCHP: Advancing Idaho Health Care Together

Proposals are due by 5:00 pm February 12, 2010. All types of scholarly activity related to health care including original research, descriptive reports, and ongoing project progress reports are welcome. All proposals will be blindly reviewed by the committee.

SOMETHING NEW FOR 2010 - "Speed Collaboration". Need some help with a research project? Looking for a research collaborator who is familiar with particular populations, research techniques, or analytical methods? This will be an opportunity to learn about potential research collaborators in other health-realted disciplines. It's a new twist on 'speed dating' where you'll meet with other faculty for a few minutes each and quickly discuss research interests and methods.
