Institute of Rural Health Receives $1 million Grant

The Institute of Rural Health recently received a fourth consecutive traumatic brain injury grant award. Russell Spearman, a senior research associate, is the principal investigator for the project. The goal of the project is to move forward Idaho's community-based support system for individuals with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their families. more>>

Counseling Department Faculty Member Receive National Awards

Dr. Nicole Hill, Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling was awarded "The Publication in Counselor Education and Supervision Award" at the meeting of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. The award was in recognition of Dr. Hill's "significant publishing effort during her career to further the development of both the counseling and counselor education professions."

One of the recommenders for this award stated that "Dr. Hill's continue support and encouragement for students goes unmatched. She has been and continues to be a valuable mentor to students in various roles such as: educating, researching, presenting, and providing service within the university and community. In addition to her commitment to her personal scholarship agenda, which includes over 20 referred journal articles and book chapters, she is actively pursuing scholarship with students on a regular basis."

David M. Kleist, Professor in the Department of Counseling, was recently awarded "The Outstanding Leadership Award" by the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors, a division of the American Counseling Association. The award recognizes excellence in professional development of a member or leader of IAMFC, and one who has made significant contributions to the profession. Dr. Kleist was recognized and presented with the award at the recent American Counseling Association National Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.
