ISU - A National Leader in the Health Professions

"Caring for Idaho" will be the theme of the 22nd Annual Idaho Conference on Health Care, to be held on Friday, October 30, 2009, at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. The conference will include the following tracks:
- Thomas Geriatric Health Symposium: "Fall Prevention"
- Psychosocial Track: "Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)"
- Oral Health Track: "Oral Systemic Link"
- Pharmacy Track
Idaho State University CEUs can be earned for each portion of the conference.
Psychosocial Track: The Idaho Psychological Association (IPA) is co-sponsoring the ACT workshop by Dr. Twohig and will provide six CE credits for psychologists. IPA is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor CE credits for psychologists. Six CE credits for LCPs and LCPCs will be provided by ISU's Department of Counseling, an approved provider for the NBCC. Dr. Twohig’s ACT workshop has also been approved for six hours at BSW level, six hours at MSW level and six hours at the MSW-Clinical level by the National Association of Social Workers-Idaho Chapter, and may be applied toward the continuing education requirements for social work license renewal.
Geriatrics Symposium: We are in the process of applying for Continuing Education credits through the American Association of Family Physicians (CMEs) and the Idaho Nurses Association. The Geriatric Health Symposium will provide completion certificates that nursing home administrators and residential care facility administrators can apply towards their licensing requirements through the Idaho Board of Examiners.
Pharmacy Track: Idaho Board of Pharmacy approved C.E. credit will be available. We are also working with ISU's School of Nursing to provide C.E. credit for nurses for all or some of these sessions.
Idaho State University's Health Care Mission
Idaho State University is Idaho's health care university, as designated by the Idaho State Board of Education. There are nearly 30 separate health professional programs across the institution. This variety allows students to explore various professions and interact with current students and faculty.
The majority of the University's health profession programs are housed in the Kasiska College of Health Professions, covering all aspects of health care including: oral, physical, mental, rehabilitation and wellness. Our distinguished faculty maintains mutually beneficial partnerships with hospitals, clinics and specialized medical facilities throughout the state, region and nation to provide state-of-the-art training opportunities for our students. The nationwide shortage of nurses is being addressed by a fast-track nursing program offered by Idaho State University – Boise.
A mix of classroom and clinical studies across the nation ensures that graduates are prepared for licensing exams and positions in a wide range of health care fields. Our on-campus and statewide clinics provide students with hands-on training. These clinics include medicine, dentistry, dental hygiene, audiology, speech pathology, psychology, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, vestibular (balance), and wellness. No other university in Idaho can boast such an array of clinics that provide both teaching and community services.
