All Clinical Supervisors and Independent Assessment Providers are qualified mental retardation professionals (QMRP) and trained under the direction of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Medicaid Division. The staff members are distributed in each of the seven regions in Idaho and work with the state partnerships established between Idaho State University (Pocatello, Boise, Idaho Falls, Coeur d?Alene, and Lewiston sites), and The College of Southern Idaho (Twin Falls).

Independent Assessment Providers conduct assessments with the adult participants with developmental disabilities by reviewing all assessment information, and determining each participant?s eligibility. In addition, they meet with the participants and plan developers (targeted service coordinators or representatives trained by Medicaid regional trainers) to go over the assessment review process. All assessments follow Medicaid determined protocols.

Additionally, Clinical Supervisors supervise the assessment process. They oversee the Independent Assessor Providers? services, provide technical and clinical expertise and advice, and manage the staff workload to assure fidelity statewide and timely completion of reports. Moreover, they consult and partner with the Department of Health and Welfare?s Bureau of Developmental Disabilities to help develop evaluation tools of the assessment process. Clinical Supervisors also conduct assessments as needed.
