Reed Gymnasium was named after Miles F. Reed and completed in 1951. It houses the Campus Recreation and Intramurals Program, the Department of Sports Science, Physical Education and Dance and the Department of Health and Nutrition Sciences. The facilities in Reed Gym include a basketball court which seats 3,200, an indoor swimming pool, handball and table tennis facilities, raquetball courts, indoor running and tennis area, outside tennis courts, offices and classrooms, weight rooms, and aerobic classrooms. A new addition to Reed Gym in 1997 includes new basketball courts and an indoor climbing wall. The climbing gym is the largest at any university facility. It has 5,500 square feet of climbable space with 3,000 holds.
