Sailing on Bear Lake

In the southeast corner of Idaho is Bear Lake, with some of the bluest water in Idaho. This beautiful, turquoise, 209-foot deep lake is 20 miles long and eight miles wide. Located 110 miles from Pocatello, Bear Lake boasts sandy beaches, several campgrounds, great water sports, excellent fishing, swimming, water skiing, scuba diving, sailing, jet skiing and windsurfing.


Yellowstone National Park

America's oldest and largest national park is located 168 miles northeast of Pocatello. Camp, backpack, hike or bicycle while you enjoy the wildlife, hot springs, paintpots, geysers, canyons, rivers, waterfalls and, of course, Old Faithful. Yellowstone encompasses 2.2 million acres of scenic beauty. Accommodations in the park are open May through October and December through March. Grand Teton National Park

The Tetons

Encompassing some of the most spectacular scenery in all of North America, ten mountain summits tower more than a vertical mile above the flat valley floor. Remnant glaciers cling to the mountain faces and jewel-like lakes sparkle in the bright alpine sun. Elk, bison, moose, bald eagles and trumpeter swans can be seen. Canoe rentals, mountain climbing classes, float trips and scenic walks are all offered at Grand Teton National Park.


The Sawtooths

Located 190 miles northwest of Pocatello, just over the 8,000-ft. Galena summit near Stanley, Idaho, the skylines rise tall with the Sawtooths, "America's Alps." Over 300 alpine lakes dot the Sawtooth National Recreation Area for excellent trout fishing, boating or sailing. Dense forests along the rivers and lakes camouflage nearly 500 campsites. Secluded guest ranches, motels, resorts or rustic cabins are plentiful. If you prefer solitude, you can backpack beyond the roads into the Sawtooth Wilderness Area.
