Arrival Information for New Students
We welcome you to ISU. The following information will help you prepare for your arrival to ISU.

Once you have received your I-20 or DS-2019, please follow these steps to ensure a successful beginning at ISU.

Apply for F-1 or J-1 visa

Make your Housing Arrangements
- Off campus housing: You may choose to live off campus and make those arrangements before of after arrival. Keep in mind that if you do not have prior arrangements and cannot find off campus housing upon arrival, on-campus housing will be very limited at that point.
- On campus housing: On campus housing fills up quickly so please reserve your housing online at http://www.isu.edu/housing/application_housing.shtml

- Remember that when completing the I-94 Arrival Record, please list the address below as your local address unless you have already secured another local accommodation and know its address.

- If you have trouble at the border or experience any travel delays, please contact the IPO office at 208-282-4320. If it's an emergency outside of regular business hours you may contact Shawn Bascom at 208-233-8772 (ONLY FOR EMERGENCIES)
- Pick up: If you indicated on the Travel Details Form that you would like to be picked up from the airport or bus stop in Pocatello, you will be picked up by someone from the university. They will take you to your pre-arranged housing. Free pick up is only available in Pocatello

Step 7
Check in with the International Programs Office (IPO)
ALL students must check in with the IPO upon arrival. Please come to the IPO on the 3rd floor of the Student Union Building (Building 14) and bring with you the following items:
- Passport
- Visa
- I-94 card (stapled inside your passport)
- I-20 or DS-2019
Copies of the above immigration documents will be made while you fill out the New Student Intake Form. You will also be given a packet of information that will help orient you to the campus.

Step 8
Attend the Mandatory International Student Orientation
When: January 7 at 9:00 a.m. AND January 8 at 9:00 a.m.
Where: Salmon River Suite on the thrid floor of the Student Union Building
This is a MANDATORY orientation where we explore many important topics to help you be successful at ISU. We look forward to seeing you there! |
