Domestic Preparedness Training Program Overview

Background

At the national level, The Office of Grants and Training (G&T), formerly Office for Domestic Preparedness or ODP, is providing financial assistance directly to each of the nation's states and territories through the G&T State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP). This continued financial assistance is being provided to enhance the capability of state and local agencies to prevent and respond to incidents of terrorism involving the use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) weapons.

Role of the Institute of Emergency Management

The State Administrative Agency for these grants is the Idaho the Bureau of Homeland Security (formerly the Bureaus of Disaster Services and Hazardous Materials) and has the responsibility to carry out the mission of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security has entrusted the Institute of Emergency Management at Idaho State University to deliver the G&T training program to the First Responders throughout Idaho. (See First Responder Disciplines)

To produce a safe, efficient, effective emergency response by the Idaho Emergency Response Community that results in the preservation of the lives, property, and lifestyle of the citizens of Idaho.

Mission

The Institute of Emergency Management will partner with responder agencies to deliver education training to meet the needs identified in Idaho's Homeland Security Strategic Plan.
