Course Title

Idaho Modular Radiological Emergency Response Training (IMERRT): Radiological Survey Instrument Operations/ Refresher

Description

Hazardous Materials Technician level responders will review procedures and operations of radiological survey instruments. Participants will also complete hands-on practical exercises to demonstrate knowledge in survey techniques, patient handling, contamination control practices, and shipping package assessment.

Course Objectives

• Review basic ionizing radiation properties and principles.
• Demonstrate ability to identify different types of ionizing radiation.
• Demonstrate ability to use radiological survey equipment and personnel dosimetry appropriately.

• Haz Mat Technician and Specialist

Target Audience

This course is designed to serve the needs of advanced level responders from Hazardous Response Teams and individuals who are responsible for radiological assessments, including radiation measurements, contamination control and offensive measures should attend this training.

Other Information

• This course is the annual refresher training that is required for persons trained at this level.

Student Expectations

To receive certification, students are expected to participate in section reviews, interactive questions, and successfully complete all aspects of testing.
