Course Title

Idaho Modular Radiological Emergency Response Training (IMERRT): Operations

Description

Operations level training provides radiological fundamentals for persons trained at the First Responder Operations Level. Information covered in this course includes the types of packages used to transport radioactive material; handling potentially contaminated patients; and contamination reduction methods.

Course Objectives

• Understand basics of ionizing radiation including biological effects.
• Recognize radioactive material shipments in transport.
• Understand and implement methods for incident scene control as well as patient handling.

Prerequisites

• Haz Mat Awareness (IEM-180 or Proof of Completion from Comparable Course)
• Haz Mat Operations (IEM-280 or Proof of Completion from Comparable Course)

Target Audience

This course is designed to serve the needs of individuals who need to be prepared to take necessary defensive actions to protect people, property, and the environment at a radioactive material incident scene.
