Course Title

Idaho Modular Radiological Emergency Response Training (IMERRT): Awareness

Description

This course provides radiological information for persons trained at the First Responder Awareness Level or for persons who just want a general understanding of radiological information.

Course Objectives

Recognize types of radioactive materials shipped within Idaho .
Define ionizing radiation and identify how ionizing radiation may affect the body.
Recognize how to identify radioactive material in transportation.
Define initial response actions to be used at the scene of an incident involving radioactive material.
Identify resources for radiological incidents.

Instructor taught course delivered at training locations identified by sponsoring local or state agency.

Course Length

4 hours

Prerequisites

WMD Basic Awareness Course (or Proof of Completion for Comparable Course).

Target Audience

This course is designed to serve the needs of individuals who will initiate emergency response actions by notifying the proper authorities, but will take no further action.

Benefits

Certificate of Completion.
This course may be suitable for EMS continuing education credit. EMS continuing education requirements can be determined by referring to the EMS Certification Standards Manual, Section XI. Continuing Education Methods.

Student Expectations

To receive certification, students are expected to participate in section reviews, interactive questions, and successfully complete all aspects of testing.
