Course Title
WMD Technical Emergency Response Training Course (Live Agent)
Description
This is a 4-day training program designed to provide emergency responders with Operations Level instruction on responding to and operating in a WMD environment. The course covers CBRNE threats; the current domestic and international terrorist threat; managing a WMD scene; determining the breadth of a WMD incident area; and dealing with the media at a WMD incident. In addition, it provides 20 hours of hands-on familiarization training with specialized protective clothing and equipment, chemical detection and identification equipment, decontamination, triage, and ordnance/explosive recognition and response. The course concludes with multitask, hand-on, performance-oriented training in the WMD (Toxic Agent) (COBRA) Training Facility.
Course Objectives
Identify domestic and international terrorist groups, ideologies, and methods of executing terrorist acts.
Demonstrate competent advanced knowledge of the four components of WMD, their composition, their complexities, and their effects.
Demonstrate the ability to employ PPE, perform mass casualty triage, employ sampling and monitory equipment, perform decontamination, and identify improvised explosive devises.
Demonstrate the ability to perform Operations Level WMD competencies in a WMD toxic environment.

Prerequisites
Basic Awareness Course.
IEM-201, IEM-211, IEM-221, or IEM-230
Must submit the enrollment application and medical screen form you will be provided.
Responders must have vision about 20/100 uncorrected (contact lenses permitted).
Anyone with high blood pressure (150 over 90) may be precluded from participation in Toxic Agent Training.
Pregnancy disqualifies responder candidates from attending this training.
Target Audience
This course is not for Hazardous Materials technicians (see IEM-241 and IEM-261).

PLEASE NOTE: Idaho “First Responders” employed by federal agencies and private entities are not eligible to attend this resident course, unless you are a volunteer with an Idaho state, county or local department/agency.
