Course Title

Prevention and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents (PRSBI)

Description

This is a technical Operation Level course designed to provide advanced training in WMD, focusing on explosives and incendiary devices as terrorist weapons. The course features a blend of classroom presentations, field laboratories, a case study, and practical exercises. The PRSBI course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to return to their agencies and develop policies, procedures, training, and operational capabilities to interdict, prevent, respond to, and mitigate the effects of a suicide bombing.

Course Objectives

The goal of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to return to their agencies and develop policies, procedures, training, and operational capabilities to interdict, prevent, respond to, and mitigate the effects of a suicide bombing. After completing the PRSBI course, participants will be able to develop:

Delivered at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center, Socorro , New Mexico.

Prerequisites

 

Target Audience

This course is designed for mid- to senior- level state and local police, fire, emergency medical services ( EMS), and emergency management operations personnel or individuals in positions which influence decisions/policy, in order to have the greatest impact in preparing their respective agencies for responding to the suicide bomb threat. Participants must have substantial experience in their respective agencies and sufficient tenure remaining in their current or future position to allow for the application of course material upon their return. Personnel chosen for this training must be in a position to have a positive influence on developing and/or revising departmental policies and procedures necessary for dealing with the suicide bombing threat. PLEASE NOTE : Idaho “First Responders” employed by federal agencies and private entities are not eligible to attend this resident course, unless you are a volunteer with an Idaho state, county or local department/agency.
