Course Title

Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings - Operations

Description

This is a technical Operations Level course designed to provide advanced training in WMD, focusing on explosives and incendiary devices as terrorist weapons. The course features a unique blend of classroom presentations, field laboratories, a case study, and practical exercises designed to familiarize participants with commercial and military explosives, improvised explosive devices, and readily available explosive formulations that have been used or could be used by terrorists. The training also focuses on policies and procedures that support effective and safe response to terrorist bombing incidents.

Delivered at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center, Socorro , New Mexico.

Course Length

32 hours

Prerequisites

•  Course participants must be certified in their agencies as firefighters, law enforcement officers, or emergency medical response personnel, or assigned to a position in another agency that provides initial response to bombing incidents.

Target Audience

This course is designed for firefighters, law enforcement personnel, and other emergency first responders who have responsibilities for responding to WMD incidents, particularly those involving the use of explosives or incendiaries. Furthermore, most of these personnel will have experience and job responsibilities related to training other personnel within their agencies. PLEASE NOTE: Idaho “First Responders” employed by federal agencies and private entities are not eligible to attend this resident course, unless you are a volunteer with an Idaho state, county or local department/agency.
