Course Title

Weapons of Mass Destruction Crime Scene HazMat Evidence Collection

 

Description

This OSHA Technician Level course involves instructions in how to collect WMD hazardous materials evidence and ensure that collection protocols are followed and that proper chain-of-custody is maintained. This course has been developed in associating with the FBI's Hazardous Materials Response Unit. The two day course consists of classroom hours and a practical scenario.

 

Emergency responders may be asked to assist in hazard risk assessment and to act as a crime scene “specialist” in the actual collection of evidence at the direction of crime scene investigators. The objectives is to provide HazMat technicians with the skills and knowledge to effectively collect hazardous criminal evidence as a crime scene “specialist” at the direction of law enforcement.

Prerequisites

IEM-103 and WMD Basic Awareness Course (or Proof of Completion for Comparable Course).

Other Information

This course can be paired with the one-day Awareness Level course Weapons of Mass Destruction Crime Scene Management for Emergency Responders (IEM-103) and can be provided as a three-day program.

 

Student Expectations

To receive certification, students are expected to participate in section reviews, interactive questions, and successfully complete all aspects of testing.
