Course Title

Incident Command System (ICS) 200

Description

This is the Incident Command System Course for the first-line supervisor and above in the new FEMA NIMS-compliant curriculum. This meets the equivalent of the state requirement of ICS Intermediate (196) under the previous curriculum. Those who have previously taken ICS Intermediate as IEM-196 or IS-196 do not need to re-take this course.

NIMS Requirement: Who must take ICS-200 before the end of FY06?  All federal, state, territorial, tribal, private sector and non-governmental personnel at the following levels of responsibility in emergency management operations – first line supervisor, middle management and command and general staff. Responder and emergency operations personnel at these levels must take ICS-200 training in FY06 as a condition for the receipt of federal preparedness grants in 2007.

Course Objectives

Approved ICS-200 level training covers certain topics and objectives, to include:

Instructor-taught course delivered at training locations identified by sponsoring local or state agency.

Course Length

Sixteen (16) hours.

Prerequisites

IEM ICS-100

Target Audience

First line supervisors, single resource leaders, lead dispatchers, field supervisors, company officers and entry-level trainees on Incident Management Teams and other emergency personnel that require a higher level of ICS training.

Certificate of completion.

Student Expectations

Participants are expected to participate in the training through group exercises and discussions, complete a pre-test, and pass a final examination.
