Idaho's only statewide organization that offers membership to people interested in any and all scientific and technical topics.
Journal of the Idaho Academy of Science. A refereed journal of technical papers. Academy members are invited to publish results of research conducted in Idaho and on other scientific topics of interest to Idahoans. The Journal is listed by several abstracting services and distributed nationwide.
The Retort. A sprightly-written newsletter reporting news of the Academy and its members, especially focusing on science education and activities at participating institutions.
Visiting Scientist Program. A select group of Academy members who provide programs on technical topics to schools and organizations throughout the state.
Scholarship Program. Financial assistance to qualified Idaho resident students majoring in the sciences or science education in Idaho institutions.
Annual Meeting. A multi-day Symposium hosted at a participating institution. Outstanding speakers, seminars, papers by students, educators and research scientists.
- Regular Members: Persons interested in science and technology.
- Life Members: Granted upon a payment of twelve times the current annual dues.
- Sustaining Members: Regular members who pay an increment above the regular dues to support the IAS scholarship fund.
- Emeritus Members: Any of the above who has reached age 60, been a member for the previous ten years, and is retired from full-time professional activity. Registration fees (but not meals) at IAS meetings are waived for emeritus members.
- Student Members: Any matriculated college or university student, full-time student enrolled in a technical program at a vocational school, or high school student with outstanding potential in some field of science. Student members have no voting privileges.
- Affiliated Organizations and Societies: Small professional or technical societies or other comparable organizations with member interests similar to those of the IAS. The IAS is pleased to help publicize the programs and activities of its affiliated members, both via the Internet and/or IAS publications.
- Institutional Members: Institutions and companies that employ scientists and have goals consistent with those of the IAS.
You can apply for membership, renew your current membership or make a contribution either by (1) US Mail or (2) entirely through this web site using a credit card.
Option 1 - US Mail: Print the IAS Membership Enrollment / Renewal Form (PDF) and mail it to the address on the form with a check or money order payable to "Idaho Academy of Science".
Option 2 - Through this web site with credit card payment: Simply complete the On-line Enrollment / Renewal / Contribution Form and then click on "Continue" to pay using a major credit card via PayPal. You and the Academy will receive an e-mail confirmation of your payment and the Academy alone will receive your completed On-line Enrollment / Renewal / Contribution Form.
