Provides a safe environment for persons on state property; patrols and provides security for public buildings and property. These positions involve exposure to all types of weather conditions, typically in the evening or at night; standing, walking, and climbing stairs during shifts. Physical danger is present during fights or investigation of illegal activity. Typical duties: reports unsafe conditions such as weather hazards and mechanical malfunctions; administers first aid in emergency situations; controls and directs crowds ant sports events, concerts, and other gatherings; provides escort protection for employees; gives information and direction to visitors and responds to complaints; responds to fire alarms and assists fire department in building access and evacuations; may patrol facility parking lots and enforce parking regulations; may monitor mechanical systems' operations; maintains daily log and complete incident reports; may answer phone and act as dispatcher for security operation; may secure valuables and make bank deposits; contacts police regarding known offenders or suspicious persons observed during patrol duties.
Incumbents will be required to maintain CPR and first aid certification. Incumbents do not carry firearms. Shift work is required of most positions. Some positions require a background investigation. Some positions may require daily travel within the local service area.
Pay range: Min $7.25 - $8.60 hr
