Position: Associate Dean
College of Technology; 12-month appointment starting spring term 2010
The College of Technology
The College of Technology, one of seven colleges on the Idaho State University Campus, offers over 40 programs in some of the fastest growing occupations in the country. Technical certificates, associate, baccalaureate and graduate degree programs are offered in the following areas: electronics/energy, health occupations, business and services, trade and industrial and technical. These areas of study provide programming in high technology and high demand jobs to help students build unlimited career opportunities. Students may also take advantage of specialized workforce training and other support courses in the College.
Responsibilities
The Associate Dean reports to the College Dean and fulfills this role in the absence of the dean. The Associate Dean’s position is an integral part of the College’s leadership/management team and cooperatively works with faculty, staff and department chairs to help ensure quality programs and services are provided to students. The Associate Dean is primarily responsible for: providing administrative oversight and leadership for the Student Services Department (admissions, registration, enrollment management, recruitment, retention, student support services, and community relations); managing the Tech Prep program for high school students, and the Carl Perkins grant and associated programs and services; working with the dean and the fiscal officer to develop the annual academic and professional technical education budgets; overseeing the College’s Curriculum Committee to ensure academic integrity for all programs, the Bachelor of Applied Technology/Bachelor of Applied Science program, student leadership organizations, advisory committees, and accreditation activities for the College; implementing/revising plans for strategic development and facilities; and overseeing activities for program review, quality assurance, evaluation, and outcomes assessment.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree in an area related to the programs/services within the college or higher education administration from a regionally accredited institution. Six years of progressive management experience in a regionally accredited two or four-year college or university. Must have exceptional leadership, management, interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills. Experience with successfully developing and implementing a strategic plan and planning academic programming. Demonstrated ability to work with students and under-represented individuals and with external funding sources to support programs and services for these populations. Must be comfortable with ongoing change and working in a growth-oriented environment. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment to build consensus and creatively solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution. Experience in a larger, politically complex organization and the ability to work in a high demand, fast-paced environment. Teaching experience in a regionally accredited higher education institution. Management experience in a student services unit. Experience with program assessment/evaluation and accreditation.
