Position: Staff Interpreter
ADA & Disability Resources Center; Non-Classified; .75 FTE (30 hours a week); 12-month appointment.
Responsibilities
- Interpret/transliterate academic and applied tech classes as well as other on-campus needs such as student/advisor meetings, tutoring sessions, student teacher consulting, writing/math labs, special events, field trips, and administrative appointments, adhering to the RID code of professional conduct at all times. Prepare for classes which may include meeting with professors prior to class starting, coordinating logistics of the interpreter and Deaf student in the classroom, explain the interpreters' role, and provide information/awareness to maximize benefits of using interpreting services.
- Perform tasks as a reader, scribe, and transcriptionist providing a variety of direct and indirect services that may require knowledge in the use of computers.
- Participate in staff meetings, staff/skill development and interpreting in-service training.
- Act as a liaison to the interpreter coordinator or director regarding department or student needs/concerns.
- Promote self advocacy with clients using ADA services.
- When invited by the director, serve as an advocate and educator.
- Support the campus as a whole in a professional capacity.
Minimum Qualifications
AA Degree, EIPA 3.5; RID or NAD or NIC Certified preferred.
