Position:  Director of Compliance (Updated 4/21/2008)

Intercollegiate Athletics; Non-Classified; Full-time; 12-month appointment.

Idaho State University and the Region

Idaho State University is a comprehensive research and teaching university, offering a wide range of degrees (i.e. certificate, associate, baccalaureate, master’s, doctoral, post-doctoral, and residency programs) and research opportunities. Idaho State University is the lead institution for programs in the health professions in the state of Idaho. The University’s main campus is in Pocatello, a community of approximately 60,000 nestled in a scenic mountain valley in southeastern Idaho. The University also offers academic classes at outreach centers in Idaho Falls, Boise, Coeur d’Alene, and Twin Falls, Idaho. Idaho State University maintains strong ties with the Idaho National Laboratory, which is located approximately 30 miles west of Idaho Falls on an 890-square-mile site. Southeastern Idaho has a population of over 150,000 and is near some of the best outdoor recreational areas in the world, including Yellowstone and Teton National Parks, Jackson Hole, Sun Valley, and Salt Lake City. Idaho State University is a Division I school that competes in the Big Sky Conference with 15 men and women's sports.

Responsibilities

The Director of Compliance will assist the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Support in the coordination of all work performed by the Idaho State University Compliance office.  The individual in this position will oversee the daily operations for the Athletic Department’s compliance office applicable to all men’s and women’s sports.

Duties include:

  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Compliance Office in developing, implementing, monitoring and enforcing essential processes and procedures.
  2. Prepare NCAA squad lists and related NCAA and Big Sky Reports
  3. Provide expert knowledge and assistance in coordination and interpretation of all NCAA, Big Sky, and Idaho State University compliance programs and rules education.
  4. Assist in the coordination of campus visits for prospective student-athletes.
  5. Working cooperatively with coaches, staff, student-athletes and other constituencies to ensure Idaho State University compliance with all Big Sky Conference and NCAA rules.
  6. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Three years experience working with NCAA Division I compliance and demonstrated experience in rules education and maintenance of NCAA records and compliance procedures at the Division I level. Strong computer skills including a demonstrated ability to generate reports using standard data entry software, familiarity with NCAA L.S.D.B.I. and Compliance Assistant Internet software are required. Successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or other advanced degree.
