Full-time, Tenure-track, 9-month contract, Department of Dental Hygiene starting August 2008.
Program Description
The Department of Dental Hygiene offers a four-year baccalaureate degree program that is integrated with a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene degree (MSDH). The faculty is committed to academic excellence and the program is progressive in adapting to the dynamic needs of the profession. Emphasis is placed on concentrated clinical instruction (preventive and restorative expanded functions procedures) combined with the basic dental hygiene sciences, community oral health, and research. Graduates are qualified to practice contemporary dental hygiene procedures in any state.
Idaho State University is located in Pocatello, a university community, nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the southeastern corner of the state. Its strategic location makes mountains, lakes, and rivers a year-round recreational attraction for skiers and other outdoor enthusiasts. Pocatello is within a three-hour driving radius of Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone National Park, and Salt Lake City.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assume responsibilities for research/creative scholarly activity, academic advising, community and professional service and committee assignments. Depending in interest and qualifications, potential exists for teaching in the Master of Science in Dental Hygiene program. There is an opportunity for growth into restorative expanded functions teaching and/or it's administration.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in dental hygiene or relevant discipline. Candidates must be registered dental hygienists who have graduated from an ADA accredited dental hygiene program and who are eligible for Idaho licensure. Applications will be considered if currently enrolled and actively seeking a master's degree. Education and clinical experience in non-surgical periodontal therapy and local anesthesia.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience and research/scholarly activity. Education and/or clinic experience in restorative expanded functions.
