Position: Academic Programs Coordinator
Center for Teaching and Learning; Non-Classified; Full-time; 10-month appointment starting academic year 2008.
Responsibilities
The Academic Programs Coordinator directs the First Year Seminar Program and CLASS Program at Idaho State University. This position is also responsible for advising honors students and providing administrative support to the University Honors Program under the direction of the University Honors Program Director.
Duties include:
- Directs First Year Seminar Program and CLASS Program.
- Responsible for recruiting and training all FYS instructors, evaluating curriculum and program effectiveness.
- Required to teach one section of FYS each semester; promoting FYS to incoming freshmen and parents.
- Responsible for managing the Peer Instructors in the FYS program including the application process, training, and evaluating their overall classroom effectiveness; responsible for developing and teaching ACAD 220-Peer Instructor Seminar in the fall semester.
- Works with various academic departments to create the Clustered Learning for Academic Student Success clusters; promotes the CLASS program to incoming freshmen and parents.
- Meets with prospective honor students and their parents when they come to campus visits and various recruiting events.
- Advises honor students on program requirements and general university requirements including providing the Mandatory Advising information to incoming honor students.
- Responsible for maintaining the FYS local account and FYS retention account.
- Assist in the planning of all Honors Program recruiting events (e.g., Future Scholars of Idaho, Evening of Opportunity, and Honors Recognition Reception).
- Scheduling all sections of ACAD 102 ( First Year Seminar), ACAD 110 (Money Management), ACAD 220 (Peer Instructor Seminar) and HONS (university Honors Program) courses in the course scheduling work copy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Knowledge of First Year Seminar, CLASS, and Honors Programs
- Strong advising and mentoring abilities
- Knowledge of HP1 registration system preferred
Salary
$34,000; competitive benefits package.
