2011 ISU Cares Customer Service Provider of the Year Award

Kent Larsen, Director Financial Aid & Scholarships, Vice President James A. Fletcher, Sheri Dewey, Assoc. Director Financial Aid & Scholarships, and President Arthur C. Vailas.

Sheri Dewey, Associate Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships at ISU Idaho Falls, was recognized in a surprise ceremony on January 12, 2012, to acknowledge her as Idaho State University's

2011 ISU Cares Provider of the Year!

Sheri has been recognized through our ISU Cares surveys many times over the last 3 years. She provides exceptional service to students, parents, coworkers, and the community. President Vailas and Vice President Fletcher traveled to Idaho Falls to make the presentation where she received a certificate, large framed check and the real thing - a $1000 check!


Congratulations to all of our past ISU Cares winners for providing exemplary customer service to all you come in contact with. Our customers are very important to us and we strive to give them the best service possible. Sheri Dewey is a perfect example of an excellent customer service provider! Congratulations to Sheri, but more importantly, thank you, for delivering exceptional customer service and for representing Idaho State University so positively!

A committee representing students, staff and faculty carefully studied every nomination that was sent in during 2011. Sheri Dewey stood out as a perfect example of an exemplary customer service provider.

March ISU Cares Spot Award Winners

Congratulations to our newest customer service winners for March! They received an $15 Visa card, courtesy of ISU Credit Union. All employees who were nominated for their excellent service during the spring semester will be entered into a drawing for $100! We will announce the winner in June.

Susan Velardo, ISU Mail Center

Susan Velardo has worked in the ISU Mail Center for 21 months as the Postal Services Coordinator. Susan likes to read, walk, and watch sports. She was nominated for her efforts in training employees to be more efficient and knowledgeable about procedures and regulations of the US Postal Service. She is highly respected in her department. Thanks Susan!

Dave Harris, Office of Sponsored Programs

Dave Harris has worked for Idaho State University for 19 years. He has held the position of Assistant Director for the Office of Sponsored Programs and Training Associate in Public Safety. He earned a BS degree from ISU in 1999. He likes to spend time with his family and coach high school varsity softball at Century High School. Dave was recognized for his knowledge, willingness to help, timely, professional and on the spot assistance to other departments at ISU. His service was outstanding. Thank you Dave!

Joe Marley, Marketing & Communications

Joe Marley has worked at ISU in Marketing and Communications fulltime for 4 years and 2 years as a temporary employee in the Cashier's Office. He is the Web Design Specialist. He has a BA in Music from ISU. He likes to travel, sing with the Camerata Singers, and compose and arrange music when he has time. Joe was recognized for his efforts in getting a departments new web site up and running and even linked into parts of the old site they still needed to have access to. He did this quickly and efficiently. Great job Joe!

Jared Waggoner, Facilities

Jared Waggoner works in Facilities as a Custodian covering the Administration building. He has worked full time at ISU for 2.5 years. Jared likes to read, hunt, fish, draw, play guitar, and mostly spend time with his wife and kids. Jared was commended through an ISU Cares survey for being cheerful and completing whatever is asked of him quickly and with no complaints. Several have commended Jared for his excellent service. Thank you Jared!

Mike Desfosses, Facilities

Mike Desfosses has worked at ISU since July 2011 as a fulltime custodian. He is working on a degree at ISU. He enjoys cooking, reading, drawing, and when he can fit it in, he enjoys riding his bike. Mike was commended for the professional, but friendly service he delivers. When asked special requests he does it cheerfully and quickly. Nice job Mike!

Gina Davis, College of Pharmacy and Student Health

Gina Davis has worked for Idaho State University for 4 1/2 years as a Clinical Assistant Professor for the College of Pharmacy and a Pharmacist at the Student Health Center. Gina was commended for always being professional and helpful, especially with difficult clients and in stressful situations. Thanks Gina!
