Hiring and Recruiting - Minor Employee FAQ
The FLSA child labor provisions are designed to protect minors by restricting the types of jobs and the number of hours they may work. Hiring employees under the age of 18 requires Human Resources' approval. Human Resources will review your needs and make sure your job assignments are compliant with federal and state child labor laws.
The Department of Labor has guidelines which must be followed in the employment of minors. For further information on prohibited types of work and work hour limitations, visit their website.
