Classified benefit eligible positions are considered
limited service under the following conditions: positions are grant
funded; incumbent is serving on active military duty; or projects that
have a specific duration.
Limited service employees are eligible for reinstatement to state service according to Division of Human Resources (DHR) Administrative Rule 124. However, limited service appointees have no reemployment preference and cannot displace other regular staff per DHR Rule 140.
The employee must sign the Limited Service Memorandum of Agreement form (see the form below) prior to the first day of work.
The supervisor or the hiring authority must consult with Human Resources within a reasonable amount of time (a minimum of three weeks prior to the employee’s last day of work) before informing the employee for the appropriate protocol to handle this process.
