About Us
Fellow
Educators:
The
Idaho Professional-Technical Education Lesson Plan Library is
designed to help you take full advantage of your
professional-technical curriculum to reinforce and enhance
academic skill development. This repository houses both
integration strategies and lesson plans. Integration
strategies are specific methods for emphasizing and
integrating the academic subject areas of reading, writing,
and mathematics in professional technical courses. Lesson
plans are guides for teaching modules featuring one or more
academic subject areas. Many of these integration strategies
and lesson plans were designed by teachers enrolled in the
professional development course: Improving Academic
Achievement through Professional Technical Education.
The Idaho State
Division of Professional-Technical Education invites you to
use these integration strategies and lesson plans as a way to
integrate academic content into your curricula. Each
integration strategy and lesson plan includes ways to
reinforce the academic content standards required in
Idaho
. You will be able to help your students make the connections
between theory and application.
These
integration strategies and lesson plans will demonstrate how
technology can be a problem solving tool that applies to
academic as well as career success. The integration strategies
and lesson plans in this library will help teachers understand
how the principles of math, reading and writing can be used to
strengthen the professional-technical coursework. They also
demonstrate how teachers can work together to help all
students succeed.
High
school completion, preparation for postsecondary education,
and transition to the workplace are significantly affected by
professional-technical participation. All teachers are
responsible for student success. For many students,
professional-technical teachers play the key role in that
success. It is our intent that these integration strategies
and lesson plans will be valuable tools to help you improve
both the academic and technical content of your curricula.
Thank
you for your efforts to create a world-class learning
environment for our students.
Sincerely,
Mike
