The Pre-Health professions advising office meets with students and assists them in applying to professional schools in the following areas: dentistry, medicine, osteopathic medicine, optometry, podiatric medicine, veterinary medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic and physician assistant. Students at all stages in college experiences should meet with the Pre-Health advisor, from incoming freshman through the completion of their education at ISU. The Pre-Health advisor monitors students' progress through their degree program and the health professional preresquite courses, providing information about application procedures, and organizing informational meetings, workshops, and speakers on specific health professions. The advisor also chairs the Pre-Health Professions Advisory Committee that provides interviews to prepare students for the health professional programs application process.
During the Fall and Spring semesters a weekly newsletter is sent out with items of interest to students.
Date and Time: Dec. 3rd - 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. or Dec. 6th - 12 noon to 1:00 p.m.
Who should attend - Students applying in the summer of 2013 and entering professional school in the fall of 2014 should attend one of these seminars.
Seminar topic - We will give you information on the application process to professional schools. Many of the schools require letters of recommendation as well as a letter from a Pre-Health Committee. This committee meets with the student during Spring semester in a mock interview and the results of the interview are composed into a letter that will be sent to the institutions that you are applying to. We can help you with the letters of recommendation submission and the composing of your personal statement.
If you are interested in participating in this process, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your place at the seminar.
