Research Day 2013. . . a wrap up!
The Idaho State University Division of Health Sciences hosted a Research Symposium with the theme "The Frontline: Incorporating Research into Evidence-Based Practice" on March 15, concurrently at Pocatello and Meridian campuses.
The symposium featured keynote speaker David J. Keahey, MSPH, presenting "20 years of Evidence-Based Management in Physician Assistant Education: Origins, Current Clinical Integration and Future Directions". Keahey is from the University of Utah School of Medicine, Department of Family and Preventive Medicine.
That morning four podium presentations originating from both Pocatello and Meridian were telecast at both locations. Presenters were: Elizabeth Thompson, Pharmacy student: Networking: An Essential Part in the Prevention of Prescription Drug Abuse and Misuse; Rex Force, Pharm. D.,: Contraceptive Methods and Informed Consent Among Women Receiving Medications with Potential for Adverse Fetal Effects; Glenda Carr, Pharm. D.: Establishing Primary Medical Care as a Result of Participation in a Community Health Screening; Mary Whitaker, Au.D. : Genetics for Health Care Professionals.
Poster presentations were held in the afternoon with light refreshments for attendees. The 50 poster presentations reflected 131 faculty/student authors. Attendance increased this year with approximately 472 attending at both campuses.
