Program Description
Name of program: Idaho Dental Education Program (IDEP)
Program Overview: IDEP is the state supported route for dental education. It is a cooperative effort between the State of Idaho, Idaho State University, and Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Students are accepted to Creighton University Medical Center School of Dentistry and the IDEP program. There is a decentralized first year, where classes are taken at Idaho State University in Pocatello Idaho and the remaining three years are taken at Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska. Students must be Idaho residents in order to be considered for the program. Upon completion of the four-year curriculum they are awarded Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degrees from Creighton University.

Faculty
Four full-time, one clinical faculty and one clinical site.
Dental faculty have experience in clinical and private practice settings. Dental faculty are active in local, state, and national dental societies (many serving in positions of leadership). Dental faculty stay current in new technological developments. Dr. Trent Stephens (a member of our biological sciences faculty) is an internationally recognized researcher, teacher, and author. He has been recognized by numerous organizations for his excellence and dedication in these areas.

Prerequisites
Required Degree: Bachelors degree highly recommended upon entry to program
Other Prerequisites: Graduation from an accredited four-year high school
At least 64 semester hours of college credits is required, but most students have a bachelors degree is necessary upon entering the program. The 64 semester hours must include the following specific subjects and credit:
Biology - 6 semester hours
Inorganic Chemistry - 8 semester hours
Organic Chemistry - 6 semester hours
English - 6 semester hours
Physics - 6 semester hours.
Successful completion of the Dental Admissions Test (DAT) - completion of the general application through AADSAS (American Association of Dental Schools Application Service)

Other Information: Students receive a scholarship from the State of Idaho when accepted to the program. This covers roughly half of normal Creighton Dental tuition.
