Program Description
Name of program: Family Medicine Residency
Program Overview: The ISU Family Medicine Residency’s mission is to train physicians for successful rural family practice. The three-year program is a community based, University-affiliated program designed to produce skilled, caring family practice physicians. It is affiliated with the Portneuf Medical Center, which serves Pocatello and the surrounding communities.
Accreditation
The Residency is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Program Highlights
- Program is highly successful at recruiting physicians for rural Idaho and for providing service to underserved patients in Pocatello and Southeast Idaho. The Clinical Research Division is the recipient of two prestigious NIH grants.
Faculty
24 full-time faculty, 50 clinical faculty and 1 clinical site.
Highly regarded academic family medicine teachers with national reputations in their areas of expertise. Dr. Woodhouse is known for his expertise in health care systems; Dr. Hoffmann is a national expert on women in sports; Dr. Force is a nationally recognized researcher in pharmacotherapeutics.
