Idaho State University to host FAFSA financial aid workshops March 16 in Pocatello, Idaho Falls

Idaho State University will hold a FAFSA Day financial aid workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 16 in Pocatello and Idaho Falls.

FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It's the first step for students for applying for financial aid, and the best way to see how much financial aid students can get for college. (more…)

2013 Idaho State University Women’s History Month art show opening moved to March 4

The opening for the Idaho State University Women's History Month art show "Feminism Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" will be held Monday, March 4, at 5 p.m. in the Mind's Eye Gallery in the ISU Rendezvous Complex.

The show – originally set to open Feb. 27 – runs through March and focuses on the theme of the origins of feminism, current interpretation of feminism from the society, and the future of feminism.

Idaho State University Anderson Center to host ‘31 Songs’ project workshop by The Billies on March 6

The Idaho State University Janet C. Anderson Gender Resource Center will welcome the innovative musicians The Billies on ISU campus to present the "31 Songs Project" workshop at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, at the Rendezvous Complex Suites.

The project, which is free and open to the public, is an effort by The Billies to create 31 different unique pieces of music on 31 different campuses in 31 days. (more…)

Sustainability is topic of ISU Women’s History Month keynote March 8

The Idaho State University Anderson Gender Resource Center has announced that Nancy Jackson, founder of the Climate and Energy Project, is the ISU Women's History Month keynote speaker at 7 p.m. March 8 in the Pond Student Union Salmon River Suite.

Jackson's free keynote speech will address the topic of sustainability. (more…)

Idaho State University to host Bengal Visit Day March 9; event includes tours, academic activities, free SAT test prep

Idaho State University will host a Bengal Visit Day for prospective students and parents at its Pocatello campus on Saturday, March 9.

The day will include a variety of activities including campus tours, academic, activities, and a student organizations fair.

ISU’s BCAL researchers, partners receive grants to help agencies manage Idaho’s natural resources

BOISE – Idaho State University researchers at the Boise Center Aerospace Laboratory have been awarded grants totaling $103,000 to assist outside agencies with resource management, according to BCAL director and geosciences research professor, Nancy Glenn.

The money is from the Idaho Army National Guard and federal Bureau of Land Management. (more…)

Art show, keynote speech, film festival part of ISU Women’s History Month calender

The Idaho State University Women's History Month (WHM) Committee will present several events celebrating the ISU 2013 Women’s History Month  in March.

WHM is an annual event in the ISU and Pocatello communities. The event provides an opportunity to celebrate the lives of women throughout history.

ISU geoscientists awarded $320k grant to develop software tools to analyze 3-D data

The National Science Foundation has awarded Idaho State University's Department of Geosciences Boise Center Aerospace Laboratory and its research partners a $320,000 grant to develop software tools to make it easier for scientists to analyze point-cloud or 3-D data.

Point-cloud data is rich with information, but cumbersome to analyze with existing tools, said BCAL director, Nancy Glenn, Ph.D.  Scientists want to access that data because it can lead to more effective ways to manage resources, watersheds or plan communities. (more…)

New Idaho State University geosciences doctoral program approved, begins in August

Idaho State University is ready to begin enrolling geosciences doctoral students in August after the Idaho State Board of Education approved an ISU Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree in geosciences at its last meeting.

"Geosciences is at the nexus of many issues facing our nation and society," said Howard Grimes, ISU vice president for research and economic development. "These scientists are amassing data and seeking solutions that will inform our use of resources, the management of our environment, the wellbeing of populations, and sustainable energy opportunities. Offering this program further expands ISU's impact on our region." (more…)
