Play ‘Knight of the Burning Pestle’ at Idaho State University Feb. 8-9, 14-16

The theatrical performance "Knight of the Burning Pestle" will be presented by the Idaho State University School of Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16.

The show will be presented in the Rogers Black Box Theatre in the Stephens Performing Arts Center. (more…)

Idaho State University Chapter of Sigma Xi sponsors four events in celebration of Darwin Day on Feb. 6, 7, 12 and 14

The Idaho State University Chapter of Sigma XI, the Scientific Research Society, will sponsor four public events in February related to Darwin Day, a global celebration of science and reason.

Darwin Day is officially Feb. 12. The ISU Chapter of Sigma XI has the following events planned:

• Wednesday, Feb. 6, 5 p.m.  – The ISU Sigma Xi monthly Science Café’s topic will be  "Evolutionary Science Today." (more…)

Idaho State University Debate Team Takes Fifth Place at National Tournament

As the Idaho State University James M. & Sharon E. Rupp Debate Society prepares to host the Cross Examination Debate Association (CEDA) National Tournament in March, one of its teams has been honing its skills, finishing in fifth place at a national tournament.

The ISU debate team of Roger Copenhaver, of Seattle, and Matea Ivanovic of Boise, finished fifth at a national debate tournament in January at the California State University at Fullerton that hosted nearly 100 of the most elite teams from throughout the United States. (more…)

Idaho State-Civic Symphony Feb. 15 concert features music from ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ guest pianist Lori Sims, pre-concert dinner

The Idaho State-Civic Symphony Valentine's concert Feb. 15 features a pre-concert dinner, selections from Prokofiev's ballet score "Romeo and Juliet" and guest pianist Lori Sims joining the symphony on Rachmaninoff's "Piano Concerto No. 3."

The concert will at 7:30 p.m. in Idaho State University Stephens Performing Art Center in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall. (more…)

Idaho State University researchers participate in study documenting hunt harvest effects trophy horns, antlers of big game species

A new comprehensive study of records compiled by the Boone and Crockett Club concludes that big game harvest has reduced the size of horns and antlers of trophy male big game species over time.

A team of six scientists from Idaho State University, the University of Montana, Arizona Game and Fish Department, and the California Department of Fish and Game, led by Kevin L. Monteith, now at the University of Wyoming, recently analyzed a 108-year data set comprising 22,000 records among 25 trophy categories of big game inhabiting North America compiled by the Boone and Crockett Club. Idaho State University Phi Kappa Phi offers competitive fellowships

Idaho State University's Chapter 110 of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) announces Fellowship Grants for the first year of graduate or professional study.

Every year the national organization of PKP awards 51 fellowships of $5,000 each, and six at $15,000. (more…)
