CALDWELL – The College of Idaho and Idaho State University will address the growing need for primary health providers in Idaho and the nation by educating more physician assistants beginning in fall 2014.
At a news conference Aug. 29, leaders from both institutions signed an agreement to expand ISU's two-year Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program to a third campus at College of Idaho in Caldwell. ISU's MPAS Program, which began in 1995, has graduated 16 classes and 508 physician assistants. (more…)
Stream restoration ecologist Margaret Palmer to give Idaho State University Minshall Lecture Sept. 13
University of Maryland ecologist and watershed scientist Margaret Palmer will deliver the sixth annual Idaho State University G.W. Minshall Lecture Series in Ecology at 4 p.m. Sept. 13.
The title of her lecture is "Restoration of Streams in Ecologically and Socially Dynamic Contexts," and will be given in Room 10 of the ISU Department of Biological Sciences Lecture Center. (more…)

Idaho State University researchers, colleagues explore tapping Southeast Idaho’s geothermal energy sources
It may not be hotter than Hades down there, but the geothermal energy trapped below the ground in Southeast Idaho is hot – the area's sub-surface heat flow is among the hottest known beneath the surface of the planet – and Idaho State University researchers and colleagues are trying to figure out how to tap into it.
"There is no other Snake River Plain/Yellowstone geothermal system on the planet," said Mike McCurry, ISU geosciences professor. "The magnitude of the system is enormous. It is a true world-class system of high heat flow and we’re just beginning to learn about how to get to it." (more…)

The 30th annual "I Love ISU" campaign for Idaho State University academic scholarships is featuring events across southern Idaho in Pocatello and Idaho Falls, with fundraising calling already completed in Blackfoot on Aug. 29.
