Five Idaho State University faculty members honored as Outstanding Researchers

Five Idaho State University faculty members have received 2011 Outstanding Researcher awards and will be honored at a reception on April 27.  One will receive the 2011 ISU Distinguished Researcher Award to be announced at the reception.

Receiving Outstanding Researcher awards are Shawn Bearden, associate professor of biology; Terry Bowyer, professor of biology; Mark McBeth, professor of political science; Joshua Pak, associate professor of chemistry, and Maria Wong, associate professor of psychology. (more…)

Idaho State University Union Program Council plans for National Volunteer Week through April 16

The Idaho State University Union Program Council is encouraging participation in National Volunteer Week from April 10 to April 16.

The UPC was created this year as an on-campus volunteer office and is composed of five students who were chosen to help organize community involvement.  It is their goal to raise awareness and promote new volunteers. (more…)

Idaho State University Master of Fine Arts student Mike Adams selected for Fulbright Award to Norway

Idaho State University student Mike Adams will pursue his passions for sculpture, Viking ships, and Norse mythology – combining these interests into multi-media sculptural installations – during the 2011-12 academic year while working on a Fulbright grant in Oslo, Norway.

"I'll be making sculptures that explore the themes of voyages and migration, incorporating video projections," said Adams, whose works can be viewed at www.MikeAdamsArtist.com. (more…)

Idaho State University Women’s Health Leadership Summit set May 20-21; sign-up deadline is April 21

Idaho State University Professor Reedy-Maschner selected to North Pacific Fishery Management Council committee

She's at a landlocked university more than 600 miles from the Pacific Ocean and more than 2,500 miles from the Bering Sea and Arctic Ocean, but Idaho State University anthropology professor Katherine Reedy-Maschner contributes to setting fishing seasons in these distant waters.

Reedy Maschner – due to her expertise, research and experience in Alaska's Aleutian Islands – has been selected to serve on the Scientific and Statistical Committee for the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC).  

This committee advises the NPFMC on scientific and other technical matters. (more…)

Idaho State University Anderson Center to host Maternal Health and Resource Fair May 13 in PSUB Ballroom

The Anderson Gender Resource Center at Idaho State University and the Idaho Department of Health and Human Service's Office on Women's Health will present the third annual Maternal Health and Resources Fair  10 a.m.–2 p.m. May 13 in the Idaho State University Pond Student Union Ballroom.

The Maternal Health and Resources Fair is free and open to all ISU students, faculty and staff, and community members. This event will feature booths and information from ISU resources as well as several community organizations and businesses that will be of interest to anyone with a small child in their life. Refreshments will be provided, and there will also be a free raffle for door prizes supplied by our exhibitors. (more…)

Anderson Center collecting baby, maternity clothing for 2011 Maternal Health and Resource Fair

In preparation for the Idaho State University Maternal Health and Resource Fair, organizers are encouraging people to donate any gently used maternity and baby clothing for the fair's maternity and baby clothing resale room.

The ISU Anderson Gender Resource Center, in collaboration with the Idaho Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health, is getting ready to host the third annual Maternal Health and Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 13 in the Pond Student Union Ballroom.  (more…)
